First Big International Signing
The White Sox made the first major dive into the international signing of season 18.
Breakdown:
Yuuta Gang, the big lefty, projects to be an outfielder. Other teams stayed away from Gang due to his poor makeup, health problems, lack of speed and the fact that he can't hit lefty pitching.
Projection: Platoon player at best. Will make contact, but doesn't have the legs to really do too much damage. Power will be above average. Plate discipline is solid, but around average.
Ramifications to the White Sox: Definitely not worth the $12.1 mil. At only 18 years of age, this is a very risky signing for one of the premier franchises in Kinsella. With a $20 million prospect payroll, that leaves the White Sox $7.9 million to sign the 21st, 34th, 42nd, and 46th pick all in the first round.
