Despite only playing the position for three seasons in the decade, Kinsella's first HOF inductee, Jake Clapp, was the overwhelming choice to be the shortstop for the All-Decade team. His three monster seasons at the plate, while also doing a fine job at the most important defensive position, were enough to distance himself from the other candidates. The final vote scoring was as follows (19 total votes):
Jake Clapp (17) - 91 pts
Danny Alexander (1) - 55 pts
Willie Edmonds (1) - 14 pts
Richard Ishii - 7 pts
Sidney Cannon - 4 pts
